Greetings, Jesse and Kathleen would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated to our gift registry. We raised a total of $3,500 which, when matched by Google, becomes $7,000! Awesome. The final breakdown is as follows:
Bill Foundation: $1,040
GiveDirectly: $640
OpenDoors: $780
Vikasitha: $1,040
Google uses a company called Benevity to vet each charity. GiveDirectly was already vetted before we chose to began our donation registry. BillFoundation was vetted very quickly. It took a bit longer to vet OpenDoors but we just received word that it was approved this week. Vikasitha is taking a bit longer. This isn’t too concerning because Vikasitha is a legitimate but very small charity. To be on the safe side we will hold off on cashing any checks or donating any money to Vikasitha until it has been vetted. In the one in a million chance that it does not vetted we will give our donors the option to return the money or to have us donate the money without the match. We don’t have any worries here. We just want to inform everyone of what is happening. We will make donations to the remaining charities this week. Thanks again, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
To Friends Who Donated to Open Doors:
On behalf of all of Open Doors and the persecuted Christians worldwide with whom we are blessed to come alongside and support, I want to thank each of you who gave a loving gift to Open Doors in honor of the August 24th wedding of Jesse and Kathleen.
Your gift (matched by Google, Jesse’s employer) will be greatly used to provide emergency relief in one of the most dangerous and oppressive countries in Africa.
